So I picked up a new guitar today...

elgato8905

Nobody special.
As the title says I picked up a new guitar today and I thought I'd share about it with you guys. It's a Washburn D46SCE and it is one BEAUTIFUL instrument. It looks great but it plays and sounds even better than it looks. It's got a top notch build quality and great sounding electronics. It even has 18:1 Grover tuners. I've never been a huge Washburn fan until I played this one a few weeks ago. I've never really been a fan of acoustics with a cutaway either until I tried this one. Two weeks ago I bought a TV from Best Buy but they didn't have it in stock, so I had to go to another store to pick it up. For whatever reason it took them like an hour and a half to get the order from the original store I purchased the TV from so I had to wait. While I was waiting I was browsing the store and realized that they had a guitar section. I didn't even know BB carried musical instruments and was very surprised to see the selection of high end guitars that they had. During the hour or so I was there I tried out Gibsons, Taylors, Takamines and a few others. As soon as I picked up this Washburn and started playing it I was sold immediately. It sounded and played hands down better than most of the guitars costing twice as much. I've always wanted a Taylor up until now but once I sat down with this Washburn I realized that this thing sounds easily just as good if not better for a much less money. The looks of this instrument give Taylors a run for their money also. I left that day only buying the TV but for the last two weeks I haven't been able to get that guitar out of my mind. I went back today to try it out again with the thought that if I still got the same feeling while playing it as before that I would buy it. So without further hesitation.... Here it is... My new baby!!!:smoke::thmbsp::banana:

I know some people, are NOT big Washburn acoustic fans.
However, I have enjoyed my Washburn D10SDL acoustic very much!
I picked it up on flea-bay, as a B-stock (minor finish blem, that you can barely see), for $71.
I changed out the so-so stock strings for some John Pierce strings also.
It might not be a Taylor or a Martin, but for the price, I have no complaints!

I hope you enjoy your new Washburn, as much as I enjoy mine!!

Thanks Steve! I'm enjoying the heck out of mine! I actually ended up getting this one for $150.00 less because it was the floor model and it was the only one they had in stock. It has a very small ding close to where the next meets the body but it isn't really even noticeable. Other than that the guitar is in perfect shape. For $150.00 off of the original asking price I can live with it.

If you like it and it encourages playing, then its a no brainer! Enjoy.I love that wood grain on the back.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments. It really is a beautiful guitar but as I said in my earlier post the looks are just the icing on the cake. In fact if I had to the rate the playability, sound and looks against each other on a scale of one to ten... I would have to say that as beautiful as it is, the looks would be an 8, the sound would be a 10 (11 if possible) and the playability a 10. I read someone's review of this guitar that said it almost felt as if the guitar were playing itself... I'd have to say I agree with that person.:smoke:

That is gorgeous!! There is nothing like a new or old guitar for that matter added to the family!! Enjoy!! :thmbsp:

in the late 1990s I worked at a music store that carried Washburn and Larrivee guitars. Many of the Washburns were gave the Larrivee's a run for the money, at 1/4 to 1/2 the price.

Washburn guitars were built at the Samick factory (IIRC, which was in Korea at the time).
Samick is a well-respected builder of quality instruments.

In short - nice guitar!!!
