A little Karma comes my way!

3 weeks ago I'm talking to an older gentleman that I've come to know over the years.

He's in his early 80's; we start talking about music and the conversation comes around to stereo equipment.

He tells me that his cd player hasn't worked in months and tells me that life just isn't the same with out his daily Sinatra fix.

So I grab one of my cdp's that is out of the rotation and give it to him.

To make a long story short, he tells me that he has some equipment that he doesn't use anymore and brings it to me.

He gives me about 50 albums, a Garrard LAB 80 and a set of original Optimus Pro 4AA headphones still in the box.

The TT needs a little TLC but, it's beautiful!!!

The headphones sound great and there's some excellent albums in the collection!

Who'd a thunk!!!

Anyway, happy camper here!

Cool !

It would be something to think about now , burning some of his LP's to CD for him . Bet he would really enjoy that too .

Hey Barney!!!

All ready started, Mel Torme & a little Sinatra; Dave Brubeck is next!

He was really excited about Mel!!!

Nice story! It's really great when things work out to the mutual benefit of both people involved.

Sound like fun !

I like Mel , he wrote and sings my favorite Xmas song .

Just think of the memories you will have now .....

Great story and Welcome to the Lab 80 club! :thmbsp:

Ya gotta be nice to us old guys, you never know what surprises we might have for you! LOL!!

Funny how things turn around sometimes.
Good for you.
My favorite Mel Torme stuff:
1. Mel Torme swings Schubert Alley (with the Marty Paich band) (1960)
2. Anything with the Marty Paich band.
3. Mel Torme and George Shearing - There are a few on the Concord label from the '80s - They're all good, especially the Paul Masson Vineyards ones.
