Never had a Nikko before, though I was chasing one on craigslist a year or so ago. So I'm driving to the hardware store, and I see a sign for a garage sale, and decide to drive by and see if there's any gear worth looking at. I almost skipped it, but I spotted a pair of fairly large speakers, and stopped. Right behind the speakers sat the massive NR-1219. The guy wanted $100, I managed to get it to $65. Now, I need another receiver like a hole in the head, but I have a hard time turning down reasonably priced vintage receivers, so I bought it. Back in the garage at home, I cleaned it up a little and am rocking it through a pair of HPM-100s, which are easily driven by the Nikko.
Sounds great so far. Very clear, with good stereo separation, and tight bass from the HPMs. It's a little newer than most of my other gear, and I wasn't sure about the LED power output meter, I'm a sucker for vu meters, but this is a really sweet sounding unit.
After my Pioneer SX-737 score a couple weeks ago this has been a nice spring for me, vintage gear wise.
