Best room location for Acoustic Energy AE1 speakers

I have an original pair of AE1 speakers bought circa 1980 but still going strong the speakers are front ported but all of the info I can find recommends a rear distance from a back wall of 3 feet, can anyone explain why this is necessary as a distance from my current rear wall puts my speakers 6 feet away from my listning seat and what will be the problem with moving the rear distance to 1foot

Give 'em a try where you want to put them. If they sound good to you then don't worry about it. They are only 4 1/2" drivers and I doubt placing them that close to the rear wall will degrade them that much, if at all. In fact, it may help with the bass a little.

the best room location for those AE1 speakers is in my livingroom! lol

seriously awesome speakers, I can still remember their impact on the audiophile scene when they came out.

form attached for placement guidelines that I use. this might give you some ideas but play around and use your ears as your guide.
