Just finished the recap of my 2245 and I could not be happier :music:

I want to thank Catrafter, Jailtime, patfont and everyone who helped me out with this.

Without the good people here, all I would be able to do is use windex to clean them up.

Thanks again,

-Vincent

I try. Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut. :D

Now we want some nudie pics of that 2245!

Jailtime, Catrafter...

Your wish is my command. I will post some pics later today...with pleasure.

Great work! Thank you for the pics. :thmbsp:

If I may chime in here:
I would replace the transistors H705 and H706 on the phono board as well, if they are still the 2sc458. :tresbon:
They always cause problems, sometimes sooner, sometimes later. You may use 2sc2240 as a replacement.

The credit goes to catrafter and the others in knowledge here.... :thmbsp:

Thanks very much,

I have four 2SC1815GRTE2FCT-ND (Digikey part number) that I ordered but, after seeing other 2245's redone and the originals still there...I thought better to leave well enough alone. Maybe a mistake?

I cannot begin to say how amazing this simple rig sounds!!

Sound stage is enormous....

Bass is deep and strong...not flabby
Mids very well anchored just below eye level...
Highs very crisp and accurate...

Listening to a copy of The Pretenders "Get Close"...funny, I was never a big fan but, I cannot stop listening to this.

Side one, second track "When I Change My Life", you can hear the pick on the guitar strings...

WOW...:music:

This simply blows my AudioSource/Rotel combo away. I thought I needed the Rotels' power since I am running Bose 901 series VI's...

The AudioSource/Rotel combo...to me...is much more sterile and lifeless compared to the Marantz 2245 on it's own.

Here is a pic of my rig with the Marantz 2245 in it's rightful place, at the head of the table.

Top Down:

-Technics SL-1200 MKII
-Marantz 2245
-Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD Cable box
-Panasonic DVD-RV32

I'd replace the phono amp transistors like Jan said. Get rid of those red epoxy diodes, too.

Tom

Will these do: 2SC1815GRTE2FCT-ND (Digikey part number)

And please explain the diode installation. Please give me the "install for dummies" version :D

Vincent,
The 2Sc1815's will probably work fine.

Any possibility on that "diode replacement for dummies" instruction...
