I ran out and grabbed this one before work yesterday. :tresbon:

That's a V15 III/Ed Saunders mounted with a Technics headshell as I don't trust what it came with, a JVC shell and an AT11e with what seems like lots of wear. Unfortunately it did not include the Marantz headshell.

I cleaned and lubed, freed a stuck cuing button, set up the cuing lifter arm which was too low and wonky. The auto shutoff LED assembly was way out of wack but I think I have that dialed in now. At least it has worked well on the last 2 or 3 sides. A sacrificial Frankie Laine album with the supplied cartridge came in handy for that experimentation.

As usual and also too bad, the lid looks like someone put their coffee pot on it or something else very hot. It has gouges that look melted in! :tears:

Beautiful TT for sure! I have one that's been doing closet duty for about 3.5 years now as it needs feet and I refuse to pay the stupid pricing that those things are going for! ha. But she works and sounds good. One day, I'll get her going right.

Enjoy that gem!

It's actually running through the NLAs the Castles are sitting on, and does sound good! The Castles are currently hooked up to my Technics SA-DA8 h/t receiver that hides in the cabinet below. However I am going to switch that around...

I may have spoken a bit too soon about the auto shutoff as it didn't trigger on the last side. I am probably going to have to go back in and do a bit more cleaning and think about replacing some caps.

It sounds good through the Castles too. Just switched it around...

Quirkiness though: It does not always auto shut off and the cue buttons are a bit cranky. In fact the Auto/Manual switch does not always engage either. In some switch positions the strobe light changes brightness up or down a bit. :scratch2:

Sure looks nice. I've always wanted to try one of those out. I had a 6200 once and it was pretty nice also. I actually really like Frankie Laine.:)

No offence intended to Frankie Laine fans. :D I have not even listened to it yet as it was in rough shape and free. That's how you get to be the test pilot with the beater stylus.

None taken. There's a lot of old timers like Frankie that you rarely hear mentioned today, so I was just kind of surprised that someone mentioned him. Congrats on your new turntable.:thmbsp:

You s.o.b. did you get from a guy named Gary? I tried to get it the night before. Your off my Xmas card list now! JK.

Got a pic of that? It can't be... the 6300 I had and sold, a number of years ago had a weird melted spot on it too.

That is a direct drive turn table.

Have a look at the Marantz 6100 instead! :D

For some reason I always gravitate to dd tables. Everything I have is dd. Oh well I'll just have to be satisfied with my fake marantz otherwise known as an RD 8100...(stolen pic but mine looks almost as good)

I took a pic for you. It's not easy catching scratches in a transparent lid, but this is indicative. This is probably the deepest scar but there are a few similar ones, all looking a bit like what the edge of a hot kettle would do. :thumbsdn:

And that's a nice Realistic, Whitey. :thmbsp:

Ouch... thanks for the pic. Sorry for the scar. Mine had a weird melted spot in near the middle. I can only imagine what people do to these things. Still, it looks to be a very fine TT. Congrats!

Hmm, if that gouge drops below the surface I wonder if you couldn't sand any bubbles out and use some sort of filler and sand it smooth. Next time I go thru Poco I'll stop here and ask.

I was thinking much the same thing as it is way too deep to sand out. I'd appreciate you checking with them, thanks!

My 6370Q had messed up logic:screwy: and a toasted queing motor (not available) for the auto/manual/queing functions. Rewired it to be a manual TT except that moving the tonearm toward the platter starts it turning and away stops it (IN Auto)...In manual it's just on or off with the power button. So it's a manual TT and I like it that way. I use it in manual almost all the time since I brush the vinyl every time before playing.
It is the richest, most bossy sounding audio that I have.
I see alot more vinyl in your future.
Congratulations:thmbsp:
