@ Snoober - I will. I'm just getting acquainted with them at the moment. Had to open-up the DI-DSP and add the jumpers = 24/192 - 1st impression is the DI-DSP removes whatever 'smear' that was present yet unrecognized until it is gone

@ stoutblock - I was... I thought hard on it. Bottom-line, I love the WM8741 Chips. They match so well with my Forte'

I'm very interested in hearing your impressions of the DI-DSP with the NFB-3, Frank. Thanks!

-UpDate-

The TE8802 drivers, even the latest ones released 3 days ago, are still not ready for prime-time on a windows7 laptop. I have no doubts this will get ironed out shortly. Maybe before this month ends. Maybe :D

However...

The Squeezebox Touch with the latest Triode "Enhanced Digital Output (EDO)" app applied is the best SQ I've ever heard using flac files -

SBT+EDO -> USB -> DI-DSP -> S/PDIF -> NFB 3.1

The EDO app allows full 24/192 output through the SBT's USB - The USB input on the DI-DSP fully utilizes all of its potential unlike the S/PDIF(RCA) input on the DI-DSP. Although some people say there is little audible difference between the USB & S/PDIF Inputs.

What output mode were you using when you were having problems?

On my ref 5.2 (which also has the TE8802) using an ASUS EeePC netbook USB out and J.River, I found the WASPI - Event style with full buffer (500ms) works fine. I could not get the ASIO output to be stable with the TE8802.

The digital in from my CD player and Pure iPod dock all work just fine.

I have not tried the latest drivers yet.

:thmbsp: :thmbsp:

You put me on the right track !

I added foobar WASAPI to my 'output' - now I have 2 options: reg audio gd out or WASAPI-audio gd

The new 2nd output option seems to work like a charm

Thanks for those impressions, Frank! I'm sitting on the fence right now wrt which one of these interfaces to get. I'll try the Foobar WASAPI driver for XP as the other ones I tried didn't work. Right now I just use the computer for streaming internet radio as the playback quality ain't that hot compared to CD.

Thanks again.

Rory

@ stoutblock : Thanks again for the WASAPI suggestion for the EeePC :thmbsp:

@ Snoober : Finally :D The best way to describe the differences is again by saying the 'smear' is less or gone altogether.

Better vocal articulation & diction, less sibilance. James Taylor's enunciation is more distinct this morning than I can ever remember. JT is good for Sunday mornings ;)

Those vocal qualities apply to instruments in their own way , better separation & soundstage

I'm not saying this combo is the 'end all to be all' but the music is just way better than before and I thought it was good before

Pic of the morning. BTW-- those holes you see in the top box are 5 vent holes I drilled into the top of the Power Supply -- It gets very warm. So I lose my warranty :scratch2:

DI-DSP w/Both clocks (TCXO) upgraded

And the Power Supply upgrade

The DI-DSP will connect to my Audio-gd NFB 3.1

The merry-go-round continues :scratch2:

:D

Proof that I know about audio, but not -ALL- aspects of audio, I'll admit I'm at a loss as your post sounds like Greek to me.

What is it you have, what does it do ? :scratch2: Yeah I'm serious....

Ohighway ,

It is about extracting the 010101 as near perfect as possible...

It can be a complicated subject. Some say it is 'snake oil' others say it is the holy grail

The links I posted may help you understand better but Kingwa (Audio-gd owner/designer) English isnt the best. Better than my Chinese tho :)

Google will help too

Always like your posts, Frank. Being a "digital" guy myself, I like it when knowledgeable folks like yourself discuss the "bit perfect" goal of digital media. I especially like the ability to use VST's to shape the sound of my system- Jriver Media is great for that. AK is mostly about "vintage"- but I have been more than happy with my system since making the switch to digital media...
