Hey Folks,
I just bought a set of Bogen 100 watt mono-blocks.
They are the MO-100a. They use four 8417 and a pair 0f 7242 tube.

Here is a link to the owners manual
http://www.bogen.com/support/discontinued/pdfs/MO100Am.pdf

They 8-50k hz +/- 2db. We'll see for sure.
There are a bit rusty, but I believe very restore-able.

It's gonna be fun.

And John,
no you cannot have these when I am done!:D

Mark

Maybe by the next meet I'll have these done and thge altecs done too. If so I'll bring them to Shane's for a demo.

Can't wait to see how these turn out - I may have to do the same if you can get them to deliver what they promise! :)

Heck,
I'd be estatic to get them to do 30-15k well. I suspect they will do very well for me as my high end hearing is gone.

These amps when properly re-built would do fine for anyone's hearing. Don't let their size fool you, they get huge when you turn them on.

These are nice amps. It's a pity the 8417 isn't still made because that is one sweet tube. I have stocked up on them... you can pick them up for the about the same price as EL34, 6550 or KT88 anyway, if you know where to look. I thought about reworking mine for El34, 6550, etc. but will probably try that on the Bogen M120 amps.

I'll be interested to follow how these work out for you.

Hey Tink,
Any suggestions on tubes?
I bought two quads of NOS RCA this morning off the bay this morning. Paid $50 a tube. Seemed to be a good average price for the tubes.

TIA!!!

If you mean 8417s, yes, I'll PM you.

Mark, the meet is a week from today so you'd better get crackin'. Bring them, at what ever stage they're at, so we can at least feast ours eyes on 'em. :thmbsp:

Glad you picked them up, as I have been eyeing purchasing a pair of some of those bogens as well. I would like to get a few for some less efficent speakers that I own for use biamping to use on the hi end of some of my Infinity's. Will probably stick to SS for the bass region. With all the links and your post it might be helpful for any future purchase I make on a pair, Good luck and hope they end up being great amps.:thmbsp:

Interesting Brick, you really changed that thing up from original. (from my memory)

An with the 6688 triode strapped leaves a lot tubes like say an 6EJ7 to fit there to.

I just checked and my monoblock set is supposed to arrive tomorrow.
More to come................

Hey there. I'm the one who has Bricktop's MO-200A with the wonderful handywork done. I was just about to post his schematic for you but looks like you're set :thmbsp:

I believe the MO-200A is just two MO-100's paralleled together....Literally output transformers and all.

I really like the sound of mine which bricktop re-designed to run KT-77's using the blumlein garter bias scheme so you never have to touch the bias. He told me about 65W/channel with the new circuit which is more then I'll ever think about using. Especially since I found a pair of Klipsch Forte II's! I prefer my Fisher SA-100 to any amp I own as I feel it has the most "full range" rich musical sound to my ears but I do believe Bogen's specs on their output transformers. It's definitely the most clear, crisp, muscular amp I have. Almost solid state like not that it's a bad thing. Very Tight.

I just got my first oscilloscope and am putting together a dummy load and waiting for some new test leads for it and I'm going to put this beast through the paces with my other amps and see how it looks!

Looking forward to following your progress!

Kory
