Lamp to LED conversion on a Pioneer RT-707

I have not used the kit, but I have tried LED's on an RT-707 that I was selling. There is a pretty good writeup I loosely followed here: http://reeltoreelworld.blogspot.com/2008/11/rep-changing-pioneer-rt-707-direction.html

I found the light to be far less bright than regular incadescent. It may have been the bulbs I used, not sure. I can't remember if I got the LED's from wjoe or mouser or somewhere else. I did select to install the resistors on the power supply board to reduce heat in the actual switch area. I also had to grind the LED's down a bit to fit all the way in to the switch. They are 5mm, but have a lip that does not allow them to go into the switch all the way, and the light is very dim at that point.

Maybe the kit is better, but if I were doing it again, I would just use regular bulbs.

It works!

This is for those who might think otherwise...:scratch2:....just going to share my thoughts and results about this. :D

Well after asking about this procedure from WJOE (http://www.wjoe.com/diallamps.htm) about purchasing the replacement kit for the regular lamps/bulbs to LED's conversion, I went ahead and purchased the kit.
Since I have other Pioneer RT-707's and extra original lambs/bulbs I decided to give it a shot (more out of curiosity).
Well received the kit and it comes with simple/easy instructions and directions for removal and instulation. The LED's that come with the kit fit perfectly in the original lamp/bulb slots.

It works! :thmbsp:

One does not have to take the time to figure out resistance values or anything else for that matter. It's a straight forward process with no problems encountered. Baiscially "anyone" can do this conversion. You can solder (I'd recomend it but not necessary) if you want or no soldering, your choice!

I feel I didn't waste any money or time. This post is just for those who don't feel like messing around with finding the right LED's lighting, grinding down LED's to make them fit, resistor values, wire's, etc. etc.
If you want to change the original lambs/bulbs to LED's on a Pioneer RT-707 "Direction Indicators" ( FWD/REV ) and just want to purchase a kit with easy instulation instructions well then this is it. I would definitely recommend it!

Y'all have a nice day! :smoke:
