KR-6060 Power Switch Relay With Voltage Selector Switch

Hi Folks -

I added a relay to my KR-6600 to prolong the life of the power switch and would like to do the same to my KR-6060 - which is the same receiver- except that it has the 120/240 voltage selector switch on the rear panel as well as an additional fuse on the power supply "B" board. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=508615

My thought is to wire the relay circuit to the 120V side of the selector switch (after the main fuse) and call it good. This should effectively disable the 240v side of the voltage selector switch in my thinking, which is fine with me, but it's a bit confusing.

Thoughts/ideas appreciated!!

Multivoltage units typically use a soft-start circuit rather than a switched mains relay...simply so that the mains voltage is not a factor in how the unit powers up. But there's nothing really wrong with a dedicated 120V setup. It's not likely that the unit will ever need to be reconfigured for something else.

Thanks for the reply.

I installed the relay this evening. Removed the fuse and the wiring from the selector switch to that fuse on the 240V side. Used that former 240V fuse holder as the fuse holder for the 100ma fuse in the relay circuit. Works good - now a 120V unit only, although the selector switch is still there.
