I found this in local SA store.
It's not what you'd usually see here at AK, but I think it deserves to be shown to the world.
It must've been preserved in some kind of a time capsule... it is in stunning condition. All tube, AM/FM, two alnico speakers, crystal clear reception and gorgeous looks... Electric Blue chassis, chrome accents, Futuristic styling. When you listen to it takes you back few decades...
Feast your eyes on my new office radio:

Woah, Dude !! That Bad Boy looks great...Bet you get a lot of compliments/comments on it...-Sandy G.

Here is a pic of the inside... Hardly explicit, since taking a proper photo requires disassembly, which includes removal of the metal chassis form the plastic outer box, which in turn requires undoing the dial strings... I don't think I will go into this much trouble for a single nudie shot, I'm not that much of a pervert :D

Anyway, here it is, showing some of the innards.

What I find amazing is that these were usually used as kitchen radios and are 99% of the time covered with decades of dust and grime in- and outside.
Not this guy... a bit dusty in the corners, that's it.. Where did they keep it? :scratch2:

That is a way cool table radio! It was probably used in the bedroom or office. I love that color the face kinda reminds me of a chevy biscayne(sp?)

That is great. It would blow the minds of my co-workers that cannot figure out why I have a Carver receiver and matching Nakamichi cassette decks in my office when I could just listen to CDs through the computer speakers. :D

Must we go back?

Thx for the visit to the time capsel. Must we go back to the present? Please!

It is m-a-g-n-i-f-i-c-i-e-n-t!

It is an AGS brand, which I believe is canadian, but the radio is actually made in... Japan!
I often read about how japanese made electronics were once considered to be junk similiar to the chinese products that started invading North America not terribly long ago.
Well, I don't know about that, as this radio is top-notch quality and has passed the test of time with flying colors... which cannot be said about any early chinese products I had an opportunity to buy and shortly after promptly throw away.

That's a gorgeous example of whatever it is! Do the AM and FM bands tune separately, or are the separate dials just a styling gimmick?

It's a good thing I didn't see it around here, I'd be in trouble with my wife. Again. :D
