A little something for luvvinvinyl

Here is the start of a switchbox for luvvinvinyl. I started with a box I had but it already had the end plates punches for something else. So I cut some 6061 aluminum plate to fit. Its sanded with some 400 grit for now, but I will paint it after the holes have all been cut. One side takes the selector switch and the other three input and one output.

more to come...

Woo-hoo!!!

I'm so excited I could just...

Well, let's just say I'm excited! I'll be waiting, with bated breath.

Ok it's getting really close now. Center on the knob is the center inputs. Turn the knob left one click and it's the left inputs, as you're looking from the front. One click right from center and it's the right pair of inputs, as you're looking from the front.

"really close"? I can hardly bear the wait, to see what "done" is like.

I appreciate that you kept it simple, even intuitive, for me.

The Almarro A205 has one input channel, I have three sources: Ariston RD-11S tt, Lector CDP-06T cdp, Marantz 105 tuner.

I guess better late than never. I always have way to many projects. Just can't say no to anyone. The box is done. Do you want me to send it direct to you or to Grumpy?

FYI: the piece you see in the base is a 1/4" steel plate. This keeps it from moving around when you're trying to use it and gives it some heft, so it doesn't feel cheap. It's a psychological thing.

So, is it

(a) an box for A/B blind testing?

(2) selector for two turntables?

or

(III) a very simple passive preamp?

Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Where DO you get that cool skinny shielded wire??? :scratch2:
This actually came from Ebay. I've got lot's, you want some? Plenum grade RG-316 (26 awg) then there is RG-178 (30awg). Lot's of miniature coax out there.

Since I too have an Almarro A205A, I'd say its a simple, outboard switch box so he can select from multiple inputs. Plug the inputs into the box and the box into the Almarro. One of the few design issues with the Almarro is its' single input.

I resolve the issue with mine using a Kenwood Basic C2 preamp via the tape outputs. While it bypasses the preamp section proper, it allows me to use multiple inputs and it has a fine built in phono stage for my turntable.

Andy is correct, it is a source selector box, for the three sources listed above.

Ward, if you just send it to Grumpy, that will be great. I can get it from him, when it arrives. Thanks so much for your great work. Your attention to detail is amazing.

You could keep some expandibility with that selector box by sending me the Lector.

Ward if I read your photo correctly you used a Elma 04-1261 switch for this. I have a number of selector switches from a Pioneer QX-949 reciever. I have been thinking about building a similar type switch box would the switch you used have any advantage over the Pioneer switches? And Thanks for the Coax numbers those will come in handy.

Mark, that switch was my choice, from Parts Connexxion, as I naively thought about building this myself. A couple of very generous AKers offered advice about the switch, and to help me with this. Timing was such that Luther squeezed my project in, so, believe it or not, that is the last piece in my office setup.
