    Fingerlift for Tonearms question

    I have Alphason Designs HR100S and lost the finger lift that came with it. Is it absolutely necessary to have a fingerlift. Does it in anyway have an effect on the mechanics and balance of the arm? Or it is just a convenient handle. I apologize if this question is asked earlier.
