    For people who don't know them, they are a 1970's speaker manufacturer, all their speakers were made of polystyrene moved in a planar orientation (hence the name). Just like a conventional speaker, the polystyrene plane is moved with a voice coil but without any spiders to stabilize the "cone"...

    Just a straight-on shot of a BES D-60 speaker. This is a three-way design. BES speakers used conventional magnetic speaker motors driving sections specially shaped styrofoam. In this speaker, the woofer and midrange are as described above, with the tweeter being a piezo. Can't play too loud...
