13,000 -> 11,000 members in two days?

OvenMaster

Baby, you're my winterblue
Not quite sure if this is where I should post this or not, but I'll take a crack at it.

Is it my imagination, or did we not have over 13,000 members just a day or so ago, and now we have just over 11,000? Where did 2,000 members go?

Hadn't noticed, I rarely look at member #'s anymore, but don't think there have been anywhere near that many banned ever. Maybe zero-post count users got wacked. Or posters who never bitched about a sour ebay auction.

Actually saw that myself and wondered what was going on. Good to know I am not the only one loosing it! :)

I asked luvvinvinyl about this yesterday. Those deleted were new members who never completed the email confirmation.

Doc

I really didn't think there were 2,000 members who had never bitched about ebay.

You have the answer, but as of not too long ago, there were less than 200 banned members IIR

I'd count em for you, but I'm too lazy. And yeh, it is a very small percentage overall.

Until you bitch about ebay, you should only be allowed triple secret provisional membership status. You have 48 hours to fulfill that requirment.

Maybe LOCATION should also be a requirement, I like to know where people are located!! :scratch2:

Dang it, I didn't know about this, why didn't anyone tell me before now?

I just got a Boston "Third Stage" on vinyl, open but with shrink still on the jacket. Seller said it was mint (how could an opened LP be called mint?), free of scratches and scuffs. Well, it is, but he forgot to mention the severe case of warpage on this baby, causing my Shure V15 Type 5-MR to hop and bop itself across half of the first track on Side 1 in about 5 seconds. Crap! :tears:

Can I stay in the forum now? :ntwrthy:

Thanks, Doc, for stepping into the temporary void, caused by my absence.

There were ~1400 'zero-post' members who joined before Jan 1, 2006, and who never activated their membership.

Possible reasons for this: Activation code email got trapped by their spam filter; Change of heart about joining; Discarded the activation email, without reading it, then wondered why account wouldn't work; Changed email account, and didn't reactivate; Other.

After purging the members database, one username, that I remember deleting, has joined up, and activated the account. As well, one former member sent an email saying that their account, which used to 'not work', is now gone. (File that one under 'Other'!) So that person re-joined, and activated the account. Two responses out of 1400+ deletions. Not a bad average.

We'll be at 12K again, soon enough.
