I'm hoping someone here can help me with this...
I have a early 1970ish JC Penny 8 Track, Tuner Turntable Model 683-1903. Years ago I got this at a goodwill got a new needle for it and proceeded to let it sit in storage for the last 10 years or so.
Well this week I was going to get this thing all hooked up and listen to some of those vintage records I got laying around, but I got an issue i'm hoping someone can help me with.
I hooked it up to a receiver the was hooked up to 2 pioneer tower speakers and all I get is a fairly loud hum and the music just does not sound clear at all. I disconnected from the receiver and hook straight from the JC Penny turntable to some speakers that came from a cheap walmart set and they played crystal clear.
The question I have is the JC Penny turntable, tuner , 8 track player also have a built in receiver? I am thinking maybe hooking it up to another receiver may be causing some kind of interference?
I can't find nothing on this thing on the web so hoping maybe someone here with more experience may be able to help me?
Let me also say the receiver I hooked up to first played the radio and tape decks perfectly fine only when I hook the JC penny turntable up to it does it have the loud hum.
I am also thinking maybe it needs to be grounded? But when hooked straight to the walmart cheapos they are not grounded and play fine which has me baffled.
Thanks for any help or advice I can get from you guys/Gals
