1970'S Magnavox Phono Into a 1960's Magnavox Tube Console

Hi. How can I get this 1970's Magnovox turntable to work in the vintage 1960's Magnavox tube console?

ISSUE IS: with the wires hooked up, it's getting power from the console even though the console is off but when the console switch is selected to phono, the console won't automatically power up like it should when the turntable is turned on. Turntable is working, but no sound since console won't turn on. Wires mixed up?

Put a voltmeter on the wires and turn the switch to see what it's doing.

The way consoles with a record player are wired:

The turntable switch has AC coming in and two wires that are switched going out, one to the turntable motor and one to the console circuitry, wired in parallel with the switch in the console, itself. That way, both switches will power up the console circuitry but the console switch won't start the turntable motor.

You need o see if the turntable you are using has such a switch on it. If it's not meant to be installed in a console, it may just have a switch to power only the turntable motor.
