The Fest is held in the infield of the Fairgrounds Horseracing Track in the Gentilly neighborhood of NOLA, which is about 2 miles up Esplande Ave. from the French Quarter.

Tickets are always available - they literally let everyone in. it's a huge space, with the two big stages catecorner each other and smaller stages interspersed between. Also, the grandstand ( the original classic of which burned) is open for air conditioning, more stages, Mardi Gras Indian costume museum and folklife presentations and more air conditioning. There is also a stage inside, in the horse paddock.

The music is great- and many of we longtimers have been spoiled by the great acts over the years, but the food is just as much an attraction - over 400 booths from purveyors who ardently auditionfor a coveted space.

Tip #1 - Never eat before you go...

I'm going first weekend for sure. I work a Carrie Underwood show on May 3 so weekend 2 is out this year.
