2265B Buzzing

I have a 2265B that has been cleaned and recapped. Overall it sounds great but has a very moderate buzzing that I can't pinpoint. It is just loud enough to be annoying when music is not playing.

It is balanced in both channels and increases with volume.
I believe it is unrelated to the amp section.
It affects all inputs.
Messing with switches has no effect.
If the receiver is left on for a few hours, the problem seems to go away.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem?

Narrow it down some more....
It's definitely not mechanical,as in transformer laminations?
Can you plug another amp into the preamp out jacks and see if you can isolate it to preamp or amp .
Both channels simultaneously?
Power supply ? Main filter caps?
Did you miss hooking up a ground wire when recapping?

Increases with volume - must be entering the signal before the volume control. (i.e., in the preamp section)

If you pull the knobs off and touch the metal shafts, does the buzzing change?

Well, for the time being, I can't answer any questions because the problem has gone away. There is a very slight hiss, but really not worth digging in to.

I'll shut it down for a few hours and see if it comes back

I wouldn't wait~ I'd unplug basically all the cables, re-route them away from each other and\or at 90° to each other.

That's good start and basically best practice anyway. Watch for loose connections or power cables snaking all along signal cables.
