2270 dial

Could someone describe what would cause the dial of a 2270 to be brighter in some spots.

The bulbs are the regular kind, not LEDs, and none are burned out.

The dial is still pretty blue. I know velum can cause a greenish tint when it gets old but does it also diffuse the light?

yep, the vellum can cause that. and there could be a few slight inconsistencies in the dial itself. My 2220 has a crooked dial face straight from the factory. And you would be surprised at the true blue of a Marantz dial. I thought my 2235B was blue until I had LED's and new vellum put in. It's amazing now, give new paper a try. :thmbsp:

Make sure all fuse lamps are replaced with new ones that are matched for best results, 8v/200ma. I keep about thousand premium assorted Marantz lamps around for my large receiver collection. :thmbsp:
