2d listening area

Besides my main listening room with my better system, I have created a 2d listening area out in the loft. I had moved the computer to the loft anyway since it was noisy--then I moved the spare bed room out of there and put in a bunch more Kallax since I am out of record storage in room 1. This ought to hold me 4 or 5 years....I hope. I also moved the vintage Pioneer turntable out from the main room as really there's no need for 2 tables in there. Also got a McIntosh clock to hang in the loft. The picture of this room is last.

So this room runs a Yamaha receiver, Pioneer turntable, Advent Smallers, and Audioquest dragonfly red for Tidal. I just hung the McIntosh clock. I'll post a few pictures first of the main room as well.

So I started with just the Luxman---then incorporated the C2500. The C2500 had to get a minor service and was gone 2 weeks. I just got a sweeter sound with the
C2500 in the mix. The MC75 monoblocks makes for yet an even more sweet sound, but perhaps doesn't have the slam of the Luxman.
I realize many say the warmth of tubes is really a level of distortion that some people tend to prefer for whatever reason.
Well the like is what it is about. I'd rather listen to something I enjoy rather than something that has a great spec but seems clinical.
Before all of it I just had garden variety el cheapo department store level stuff.

This is similar to the story with my GIK Acoustics stuff--I was plenty pleased with my room sound but all convinced me the sound could be more "clean".
Fiist I hauled my computer and most other excess out of the room----and bass became way bloated and concentrated around floor. I then adjusted speaker positions and bunged the rear ports with a sock. Immediately I got the sound
that one tends to hear in so many hi fi show rooms. The rich warm but recessed and rather confined sound emitting from mainly the speaker source.

That would not do so I contaced GIK. First thing I told them was I was used to a lively, reverberant room....not a dead one (as is what I would call that showroom sound I was getting).
The designer recommended scatter plates in some diffusion art panels along with several bass traps to assure the room would be clear and spacious, with bass well defined and controlled and not dead. He was correct and I could not be happier than the room treatments recommended.
So I fixed my bass and clarity issues whilst allowing the room to remain "alive".

In the end it is what our ears prefer....
