A beautiful fall day for a ride!

In my part of the world, it was a beautiful day for a fall ride.

So the old guy cranked up his 33 year-old motorcycle and went for a pleasant fall ride. The temperature was perfect and the foliage was very colorful. The old motorcycle ran flawlessly and it was a nice afternoon.

I actually had someone PM me a while back and tell me that the pictures of my motorcycle that I have posted looked a little "dated". So when I got back home, I shot a picture of my ride.

I'm sure that others here rode today as well. Let's hear about it!

Good for you, and glad you enjoyed... I wanted to get outside today but other things conspired to get in the way of any outdoor activity....

Big difference in the trees out your way versus here in Maryland. All our leaves are gone.

Very nice indeed! The weather, the scenery, and the bike that is! :thmbsp:

Your bike looks like new. I really respect and appreciate those that take care of their equipment as you obviously have. Can I give you another thumbs up? :thmbsp:

The weather report for tomorrow (November 9, 2009) is supposed to be clear and in the mid 70s so I decided to take the day off and go for a ride too. The leaves are now mostly off of the trees here in the mountains of central PA but I just can't pass up the opportunity this late in the season.

Nice shot! And you still have leafs on the trees. ;)

We've had nice, relatively speaking, weather here in MN too for the last few days. Between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon, I manage to squeak in about another 400 miles of riding.

No motorcycle here, but I did take our 02 C5 Corvette conv. out for a nice spin through the valley, and up along the ridge of South Mt. Perfect Fall day for it.
Regards,
Jim

Yes, it was an equally nice day for a ride in a sporty convertible as well!

When I grew up, most every red-blooded American boy wanted a Harley-Davidson and a Corvette!

I REALLY feel sorry for folks who don't live here in the Southern Appalachians this time of year...This year has been especially magnificent, I guess 'cause we had so much rain all year..

It was a beautiful day for a ride. The trees are pretty much bare this far north but the day was otherwise perfect. High 60s, no traffic, great road conditions, and made it home safe and sound. I really enjoyed being out this late in November. It's not that I haven't ridden in all 12 months of the year before, it's just that this day was somewhat unexpected.

The only incident was being passed by a Stare Trooper that must have been going after someone doing a bazillion miles an hour without lights or siren. He passed me on the right just as I was starting into a left turn. I never saw him approaching so he must have been hiding somewhere. It startled me enough that it disrupted my turn but not so much as to cause a wreck. I would have appreciated a little advanced warning though.

I haven't had many opportunities to get out and ride this year.

Business has been good and other projects have had higher priorities, but when you consider that I have had my FXE for over 32 years, there have been "good years" and "not-so-good years" for riding.

I'm pretty fortunate in that there are good days here in all 12 months for riding, but Sunday was just an extra nice one.

Being an old guy with an old motorcycle, I choose to ride only on fair weather days.

Still quite a few of them ahead, I hope.

took the new Buell out this weekend to do some curvy backroads....lots of cool rides were out.
proceeded to scare myself good a couple times on some off-camber turns...Valentino Rossi I aint.
the ol' Glide is still looking good :thmbsp:

We were gonna go riding Sunday, but my wife didn't feel good.. so we stayed home.. and I was bummin... OH WELL.... we'll still be riding more through the winter... We managed to get in about 5000 miles this year so far... Still far short of the 10 to 12K a year we rode when we lived in Illinois..

One of these pretty fall days we will have to get together and go ride the two WHITE Harleys ...

Mine is only a 2004 FXSTDI ... ( with only 4400 miles :D )
But I got my first Harley back in the early 70's.

I sold my 2001 FXSTD after my heart attack. Here is a photo of it.

Yes I'm sure it is, I was down to Ashville, Va weekend before last, and the ride on Rt 26 into Ashville was magnificent in the Corvette with the top down. the mountains were ablaze with fall colors.

Jim
