Bear & Sons in Alabama, make a nice pocket knife.
Anza knives, near San Diego, CA. makes inexpensive fixed blades out of old files, as well as a few pocket knives.
I hate to even talk about my pocket knife but........
The wife and I were out walking the doggie (you remember, the doggie that found me the Klipsch speakers last year)....
The doggie pulls over to the side and starts sniffing. Well that time she found me a ran over Gerber. Awful rough from being hit a few times by cars.
The wife sends it off to Gerber to see if they can "fix it" and low and behold a week later a bran new in the box replacement shows up in the mail.
Good doggie (once again).. Doggie has found me a lot of things including about $150 in cash (all small single bills with the exception of about $70 wrapped up an a rubber band)....
For those of you with Big5 sports stores around, check their sales for CRKT knives. Their selection isn't the best, but I've gotten all of mine for under $15, and these are $30-$40 MSRP knives. Lots of cheap junk in there, but some great sale prices on decent stuff.
I just 'misplaced' my Kershaw folder. A great little knife, one hand opening and very sharp out of the box. I'm going to check into those CRKT models. I'd never heard of them.
Edit: Ahaa! CRKT is Columbia River Knives...and that Big5 store is selling them dirt cheap. Ordering a couple right now! Thanks, guys.
Even if they're not great knives they look well made.
Big5 website is insane. I can't find a way to add items, only remove items. I'd rather spend another $5 and order it hassle free from Amazon or Campmor.
Good review of the Kasper on Youtube. I added it to my Big5 cart but for some reason I can't get to my shopping cart! And for only $15 I was going to add another as a gift for my knife-loving brother.
Internet can drive me insane. I'll call them in the morning.
Edit again: Just placed an order to Amazon for a CRKT Drifter stainless, a Drifter G10, and a Spyderco Honeybee. All for gifts this upcoming Christmas. I'll probably keep the stainless for personal use, however. Reviews were better than Kershaw of similar configuration.
