I've really slowed down on my thrifting these days, but still look around a bit. I have been looking for one album for probably the last 15 years. I know I could get it online easy enough, but I wanted to find it at a thrift.

Nazareth-The Fool Circle. Minty fresh. This album was my first foray into real Rock. I heard it when I was in the service in the late 80's for the first time. It blew my previously Top 40 listening mind away.

Spinning it as I type. It's the little things that make life great. :yes:

My first exposure to Nazareth was Close Enough For Rock n Roll. I was toying with the idea of buying it on vinyl, today. I should have gotten it.
 
I've seen a couple Nazareth albums at the record store down the street, but never that one...usually "Hair of the dog", and "no mean city". Uriah heep is a good find as well.

Sometimes that chance find can feel really great, can't it:thmbsp:

What Heep did you find? Their first album, Uriah Heep S/T (here in the States) is awesome. I have their first 5 albums on vinyl, you can't go wrong with any of them. It's a toss up between Demons and Wizards or the self titled album for my favorite though.

Heep has some awesome album covers too, I like to keep at least one on display around my gear.

Good album, I have it and enjoy it quite a bit, don't have much of their work, but the best of and "wizards birthday" are both top-notch.
 
I know the feeling

of finding vinyl you have looked for for a while,it's sweet when you get it home and spin it. Enjoy.:thmbsp:
 
I think there's a little gambler in all of us, which is satisfied by the record find or gear find at a thrift store. It's similar to the feeling as a kid to open a pack of baseball cards to find a Mickey Mantle or Bob Gibson. I had a box of unopened packs of cards, a little over 20 years old. Last week my wife opened all of them, because they had gum in them and she didn't want to draw ants. She didn't understand why I wasn't happy that they were opened. Oh well.

I saw Uriah Heep in 1971 or 72. That was also the first time I had heard of Blue Oyster Cult, who was a last minute replacement as the opening act.

Magician's Birthday is what you refer to. "He was the wizard of a thousand kings/And I chanced to meet him one night, wandering..." ("The Wizard" was from the LP called Demons And Wizards.)That and Nazareth for me represent that moment in time when bubblegum started meaning less and proggier rock started meaning more. For me it was a combination of hanging out with an older heavy rock crowd and discovering the local rock giant, KSHE 95 Real Rock Radio, St. Louis, MO.:thmbsp: I still love bubblegum, though. It represents another set of great memories of make-out parties in junior high.:banana:Uriah Heep, another set...:smoke:
 
That is one of the wonderful things about music - the memories, emotions, places, moods that can rush in when we hear a certain piece...nothing like it! :thmbsp:

Nice! I've noticed that if i have a few "wish list" records visualized in my mind before i enter the GW one or two often pop up and it's usually of the last ones i look at! I know, i know... a lil bit "Woo, Woo" for some, but you are from Orey-gun, so i'll wager you know where i'm coming from. It must be in the water here or something? Anyways. Killer diller and continued happy hunting!

My GW Nazareth quest is for an at least VG+ copy of their all-time classic, The Hair of the Dog. Yes, still !!! :tears:
