Aa-151 change

Hi all,

I’ve owned a Heathkit aa-151 integrated el84 tube amp 15w per channel for a while now driving Dynaco a35s. I’ve been debating selling and switching to a solid state integrated with 35+ watts somthing like the Cambridge axa-35 or nad c 316bee v2.
Interested to hear all your thoughts.

Heck, I'd go with a Heathkit AA-29 which was rated at 35 WPC but is really 50 as revealed in testing for reviews back in the day. I have three of them and two AR-29s (one of which my son has) which are the receivers. Wonderful sound.

Tubes are great… but I can vouch for the NAD C 316 BEE… I have one & it’s powerful & has a enjoyable sound… 8501E914-55B3-430E-9194-FE81F2D3BDC8.jpeg

I was hoping to hear more responses. I. Never owned a decent solid state before or heard the Cambridge axa-35 or the nad c316bee. so If I do end up buying one or the other, I hope I’m not disappointed.
 
I meant the debate over whether to keep or replace - you apparently are already selling it. I suspect that suggestions will keep coming in, especially as you describe your possible choices.
 
If you can't 'audition' the other options in your environment, you're asking others to give you opinions on what 'you' will experience..
Nobody here, with all of their incredible knowledge, can do that for you..
 
True, but absent other listener's opinions, his options are believe the manufacturer's puffery or that of self proclaimed experts in magazines and on the web. I'd rather hear what AKer's have to suggest than what reviewers do - if nothing else, you might get multiple takes which might be more reliable than a single opinion.

I like that^^^... we do rely on the opinions of others, especially on a site like AK that is dedicated to audio, and what we(all of us) have experienced.. 'we' can share our experiences/opinions despite manufacturers claims, specs, self proclaimed experts..
And hope they are taken for just that.. 'our experiences and opinions'.. :beerchug:
 
Thanks guys. Exactly just interested in the opinions of those who have heard or own one of these amps as opposed to people getting paid to say they are good.
