ADS L570/2 speakers $40, worth it?

I love the ADS sound, even their two-ways. I just acquired a pair of L1290/2's with PA-1 amps (need some work to bring up to spec), and currently am running a pair of L880/2's. So I don't really have a need for these right now even though I might down the road a ways in a secondary system. They're in very good condition, worth it for $40? TIA

If you know that they're in good condition, and you already like the ADS sound, then I would think that would be a no-brainer for $40!

I'm trying to decide whether I'd be buying them for an actual purpose, or just because I like ADS--and then watch them sit around. And whether they're worth the $40 since they are two-ways not a highly regarded (although I still like them.)

Dude, you shouldn’t of even let the time elapse writing this post! Shoot first ask questions later. I’m glad you got them $40... that is a steal, not only because they are worth 6x that amount for resale but, because they sound bomb! I just got a pair of 570’s at Salvation Army for $60, did I really need them? No but, they had been there for a week (per date on the tag) the guy said people had been trying to haggle for a lower price but he wouldn’t budge so they passed. Huh? What? The gift horse’s mouth was looked at several times already?
Anything that says ADS is awesome. If it says ADS and it’s not being sold for retail value it is worth picking up. When you start to collect too many to listen to, think of other uses for them like ditching your end tables and using them in place, or put a bunch together and lay your mattress on top for a nice ADS boxspring. Maybe some nice l300’s as book ends, a 910 cab for the dog house, or if you find a single let your kid stand on it to reach the bathroom sink....

i enjoy just the thought of having my 16+ pair hiding somewhere .......at random times when I find them while "organizing" I can just smile ........it's the simple things so easily enjoyed

$40.00 is a steal, I just ordered a super clean set for $300 but this is 2023...always wondered how these would compare to my Klipsch KG3 or JBL. L46 speakers....being driven by vintage Sansui G5500...which is not easy to beat....lots of good reviews on the ADS....we will see

LOL....agreed ...good reviews, they seem like solid quality speakers

$40 is a great deal. I have a pair. I use them with a tube amp with 4 ohm taps. Doing some research, I found the woofers are the same between the earlier 570, and the later version. The only 2 differences are the different dust cap sizes and the original 570's used an aluminum vioce coil tube that tended to get easily deformed if they happened to bottom out. So with the L570/2, they changed to a plastic tube. But the cone, surround, spider, and coil itself are supposed to be the same.

I recently hopped on the ADS train starting with L570s. Great sound. $250 shipped for mine. Then came the L810s ($200), last week bought the L880s.....
Help!!!
I wouldn't mind trying a pair of the larger ADS's with the octagonal cabs.
What was the largest woofer they used in that line?

Pretty sure it was a 12" in the L980. Don't own those but a pair went up for sale around here (Boston area) not too long ago. Too much for me to rationalize although I'll bet they are incredible. Pretty rare to find in the wild it seems. The 880s have 10s.

I've never been against it though. Sometimes more information about a given piece of equipment is added. Including info that solves a problem that wasn't in the thread originally. The added info can help others later on.
