Aiwa HS JX879 belt replacement

Hi everyone,

not sure if i am on the right page but i need help.

Do anyone know how to repair my wonderful Aiwa radio cassette walkman model number HS JX879.

It has two belts inside it but the unit is not like the Sony's WM where you can change the belt with ease. Aiwa's have always been a bit difficult even though in my opinion they are better.

I don't have the required tools to put belt on as the circuit board only comes up with hardly any room to even attempt to put the belt on.

Cassette walkman repair shops don't even exist.

I am willing to post the walkman if i knew it was going to be repaired.

I am based in London UK as i would value your response.

Or does it mean the Aiwa walkman rendered useless.

Yeah, I used to have to work on these Aiwas. I don't remember that specific model number, but they all are a bear.

The trouble is that they take as much time to fix as any other piece (sometimes longer). We used to get customers all the time coming in and thinking that $79.95 labor to fix their $50 Walkman was robbery. It's impossible to explain to most people that their unit needs to be filleted, repaired and correctly reassembled. All they know is it cost them $50, and should cost $20 to fix.

Good luck.
