Well thats what I have right now got it for runs like a champ no issues but since I am a noob in the vintage audio world I have a couple questions.

1. should remove the bottom screws to the unit and give it a good dust removal opperation ie aearsol blow ?

2. oil the post ?

3. apply any anti static?

Any comments or info on the ole AKAI would be awesome such as was this a mid or high range unit ,or any other tricks that I should do ?

1. Not necessary unless there's a problem with it.

2. No, the spindle is part of the motor, and the motor is sealed. No lubrication.

3. Not necessary unless you're having problems with static. And it also depends on what you mean by "anti-static."

These types of tts required almost no maintenance.

This turntable is a straight arm, direct drive, auto-return, from the mid-80s. It says "servo-lock" and has no pitch controls, so I suppose that means it's really quartz lock, but not totally sure. For the time period and it's features it was fairly high up the line. Unfortunately tts of this period were lighter and often looked plasticky, but I've found that they usually sound better than they look, which is probably the case with this one. With a decent cartridge it should provide you plenty of enjoyment. :music:
