AKAI AP006, tasty mint with new stylus and warranty ...

A mint looking AKAI TT AP006, the last wooden one from AKAI with direct drive has just popped up at a shop not too far away.
It is pricey for a akai at €240 but has a new stylus and looks completely mint.
I got my AP003 at €40 so spending an additional €200 seems crazy to me, but its absolutely beautiful.

I'm tempted to put my R2R budget in this...

Hmmm, it does look like you are a big Akai fan...

I have the AP-206, got it for 40 swiss francs, but it was not mint - worked well but a hinge was broken and the cover badly scratched.
And the AP006 looks like it's quite a bit better than that, soooo
It's quite a bit of money, but it's a nice piece of equipment...

I got the AA1050 sold for 100, the gx270d is getting picked up soon for 110 and i can easily flip the ap003 for 50 or more since it has a new belt and motor mounts so i have the budget.

Ii thought it would be a mayor difference but only difference is the direct drive and power switch.
Everything else is identical. The plinth, chassis and dust cover is interchangeable.
Tried to negotiate the price but he didn't move BUT got a second new Audio Technica ATN-70 with it.

Top has more scratches than my 003 and the plinth has 2 dings on the side. But being all interchangeable im gonna swap the good stuff from my near scratch free 003 onto the 006.

I do love the direct drive, its really smooth.

I do like those Akai tables. Is the patter and arm also suspended like the belt drives?

jup it all the same, but the 006 has anti-skate.

But this one is much more dynamic sounding than the 003

Could be the extra over all weight - 9kg VS 6.8kg

Different platter size - 325mm VS 300mm

Different tone arm length - 230mm VS 215mm
