Recently acquired an Akai x5000-W in pretty good shape. It was from the home of the original user, who had passed and seems to be well kept. Took it apart, cleaned it and then sent it out to have some issues fixed that I didn't have the equipment and knowledge to do. It plays back and records well and all functionality seems to be there.
I'm interested in replacing the pinch roller -- the original part that supports 3 3/4 - / 7.5 ips playback and record, not the optional smaller pinch roller for 15 ips. I can't find any replacement rubber tires that reference the Akai x5000-W model for compatibility. I realize this model was only built for 2 years and there may not be as many out there. But, was hoping that someone out there that knows if x5000-W pinch roller is compatible with some of the other Akai models from that period?
