Given the mismatched motors, i'd probably offer his each price for the pair.

Actually, unless they were free i'd just leave them. Most 421's have seen a hard life or two. These don't appear to be an exception.

If a fella wants to build up a pair of 416's, he should at least start with a matched pair of cores.

Is racooned a term for aluminum dustcaps? And they probably have had hard lives, being instrument speakers. I have no interest in them, just posting the info.

This may be an audio karma member posting... Not sure but I got my Tannoy Arden speakers from a guy with the same floor lol and I know he dabbles in all kinds of gear, into horns lately. That's all I can contribute here lol I know next to nothing about JBL's.

If somebody had an immediate need for 421's, those would fit the bill, and are reasonably priced for somebody that can use them as is. A little pricey to just tear them down and use as 416 cores.

For instance, if i stumbled across empty 1215 cabinets i'd buy those 421's for them in a heartbeat. 421's are correct for the 1215, being folded horns the fact that the motors don't match would remain invisible, and any tonal differences between the original cones and the new ones will pretty much be negated by the horn's BW limitations. They'd be great in a bass rig too.

I’ve always wanted to hear a 1215. PhilG had some in his neck of the woods on CL. He bought the 1225 tops but left the 1215 bottoms. I was jealous because they went cheap.
