For the price I would get the air core. And replace the coil in both speakers so they match. It will hang off the board a little bit but that doesn’t matter. Glue that sucker on with hot glue.

My father in law dropped the speaker down the stairs. When he connected the speaker the woofer wasn't working so he dug in to fix the problem. A day later I got a picture from my mother in law of him surrounded by a mass of unspun wire......pretty funny. So that is situation. Thank you for the advice and I will grab 2 of the Air-Core's.Iron core

I know this is an older post, but was wondering if you had upgraded the caps on this? The ones on mine are 8.2uf electrolytic caps, same value on both and measure at 19.xxuf. I was looking to maybe upgrade the crossover with a couple poly or film caps, an air core inductor, maybe different resistors. Would you have any recommendations on what one could change the values of or anything that would potentially improve the stock design?
