Altec Model 17

I'm looking for some information on the Model 17 cabinets.

I have recently purchased a set of Altec 605B's and also a set of Model 17 cabinets.

The Model 17 cabs are for front mounted 604 speakers and the 605 is a rear mounted speaker.

I could notch the motor board and front mount them as others have done.

My question is;

Is the back board screwed on or glued in place?

It would be easier to rear mount the 605's but if I have to cut the back board I may as notch the motor board and front mount them.

I don't pick up the cabinets until next weekend so I'll know for sure then but just trying to figure out the best approach.

Both screwed and glued on mine 1975-6. I went to the hard ware store and purchased long screws with buttons they have teeth that cut into the inside of the front so I can unscrew the machine screws and the grab buttons stay in place...no vibrations either near 1/4 X 20 threads. been using them for 10 yrs. also mine are made from birch 7 ply marine.
