Altec Speaker ( With third wheel)

It's ridicules how nice these Altec 887a Capri bookshelf speakers sound:yes:
Picked up a pair ( and an extra that the guy had ) In unbelievable shape. The tweets still have the "Mesh" cover on them and the wood cabinets have just a few marks on them. The surrounds appears to be newer:scratch2: I pulled the drivers on the single one to get the numbers. The tweet's # is faded but here goes: 50-03-030896 plus a few extras ( 137 7234) along the bottom half.

Price for the three $50:thmbsp: Any opinions out there?

I would try flipping your speakers over and have the tweeters on the inside.

I have a pair on stands in my bedroom.Running them as satellites off a 8" AR sub.
Sounds amazingly good.Powerering them with a Sherwood 2225a.
I like em!

Mine are sitting on top of some 1980 Jensen speakers (15" woofers.) I use them as stands and subs:yes: With great results Until I rotate the Pioneer CS R-700 speakers back, And place them on there.:thmbsp: How high are your stands:scratch2:
The tweeters on these puppies are clear as bell and with the adjustable lever on the back it's easy to get the "right" Balance.

if you listen where the pic was taken I thing you'll find them to sound lot's-O-better with the tweet's in the center.

OK I may be wrong. I just called my bro, he does sound for tv shows and said in live music the (bass) drums are in the center so the woofers should be there also. makes sense.

I did "Flip them" and preferred the tweets out due to the sound stage:yes: With the Bass centered and the tweets turned :yes: inward at an angle.Thanks for the speaker link:thmbsp:
