Altecono Tweens (Altec 9 Econowave)

I've been wanting to do an "traditional" Econowave build for the longest time. I've been targeting Altec model 9s. I've always thought these would be ideal candidates. A horned two-way version of the 9s should get me closer to a model 15 (they share the same woofer). Scored a clean set cheap. So, here I go.

I plan on using the original configuration as much as possible, even the port. Woofer: this is the version one model 9 with the (less desirable) CTS woofer, but that's fine. Tweeter: I planned on just buying some d220ti's and using the, now standardish, Dayton waveguides. That is, unless someone else has a better (closer to a model 15 sound), but no more expensive idea.

That brings me to my questions. I'm not very experienced figuring out crossovers, but can solder and fabricate very well, so...1) What type of crossover should I build for the Selenium/Dayton combo? 2) If I should use something different, what should that be crossed over with?

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm going to attach pics I have, and will post more as I put these together.

I'm not an Altec person, but seeing 93dB (and RCA?) so could start with the "standard" for < 95dB XO. Tough to find things in that thread anymore, but the 2nd schem in @EarlK's post is a start.

If you don't have "measurement stuff" (which was sort of the point of the thing--to teach us to help ourselves), you can perhaps start with an RTA app for your phone and adjust from there. Hopefully someone else has your woofer data and will pipe-up.

Thank you. I'm trying tor learn some of the stuff as I go. I used to follow the Econowave thread back when it first started, but it's huge now, and this is my first real crossover build from scratch. Just done a ton refoaming and parts replacing before.

For an overview of what you're doing, take a look at the 1st link under "Supplements" in Zilch's 1st post. For a deeper understanding, you may look under the Crossovers section in Wayne's FAQ. It'll take some time but you'll have an idea what's happening as you try to develop your own project.

I stumbled upon these that I forgot I had. I'm having a hard time finding specs on them. Wasn't sure if I could try these, just for fun. Also, is that some just sort of thread dope around the threaded mouth of these? Should I do anything special before unscrewing thenm?

I'm gonna start with these. They we the right price. I'm sure I'll futz with these for years. Or maybe I'll stumble upon a good pair of the better Altecs someday.

I was wondering if anyone could check my wiring. It's not pretty, but it's my first time doing this. Assuming all my values are correct, is everything else correct.
