I was always under the impression it was Jacob Moogberg who invented the Moog, If I'm not mistaken he also invented, the trendy for it's time, Piano Key Necktie

The Moog was a programmable polyphonic sound signal generator.
I thought all the early Moog models were all monophonic at first, Pio ?
Also I thought I remember reading, that Bell Labs did some investigative research into this area in the late fifties ~early sixties ?

Electronic music began with the Teleharmonium, the Theremin, Hammond organ, Ondes Martinot, and so on. The Moog was a programmable polyphonic sound signal generator.
The moog, as used in switched on Bach, was MONOphonic. Individual notes were stacked up on tape for the more complex music. Polyphonic was later.
