Another New Guy - Sort of a Sansui fan.

Hello!

I've been lurking here for awhile, stopping by from time to time to get info about components I'm not familiar with. My wife thinks I'm getting carried away with the "old stereo junk", which seems to indicate I've achieved a certain level and therefore I thought I may be ready to actually post! I'm still an amateur compared to most here, but I'll give it a go anyway.

My primary system for several years has consisted of a Sansui AU-717/TU-217 combo running through a pair each of SP-3500 and SP-2500 speakers. I like the amp so much a picked up a spare (came with a Pioneer TX-9100 tuner), and recently scored a TU-717 (hasn't arrived yet). Also on the way is a Sansui QR-6500 amp. Other goodies include Pioneer SX-838, SX-939, and QX-949 units, Sansui SP-X8000 speakers (not as nice as the old ones), Empire model 6000 marble top speakers (not great but cool), 2 pairs of "Eames style" table tops (nothing to write home about), sherwood S-8000IV tube amp (free with home-made Rek-o-cut (?) turntable from Grandma-in-law's house), Sherwood S-7100A, Sansui R-610 (came with something else - never turned it on), Numark EQ, Cerwin Vega Re-series speakers. I just scored a Luxman T-88V tuner and B&O Beogram 4002 turntable for free from my mother-in-law's garage (with about 300 LP's). Shelved when I got into the vintage equipment is a Sony STR-1070AV from the early 90's. I have an HK-800+ in the shop that I attempted to rescue as a gift for my uncle, but I don't know if it can be revived or not.

I can't use all of this stuff, but I love messing around with them (I think it's an illness)! Sorry for the long list, but I hope to be able to contribute from time to time.

Eric
