Congratulations Urizen!!

What a great change for you and wonderful possibilities!!
Welcome home.

and to Spaceman (charity amp auction): now I understand why we play well together!

Beautiful thread...I am an occational friend of Bill's, yet it hasn't taken...

I am 52, life long drinker (beer/vodka) and married for 27 years.
We split in 2005, yet we are now getting back together in September. I love her deeply, yet I am scared to death, given our history. We are the greatest of soul mates, yet can be the worst of enemies.

I know my chances are running out; my body is telling me, so something has to happen. The next step...

I can feel your pain. My body was telling me the same thing. And I was about to lose my wife of 30 years. For me it was the accepting that I am better off without it.

The best way I can explain it was I realized my on - off switch is broke concerning alcohol it does not turn off.

Take the first step. One minute at a time then one hour then 1 day. Trust in your higher power. Go to a meeting.

I found that making my sobriety my #1 priority on a daily basis, take the steps outlined in AA to the best of my ability and continue to practice them in my daily life, I don't have to drink today and my whole attitude and outlook on life changes.

It is your choice and I hope you will choose wisely.

My only regret is not doing it sooner.
Life is great.
A few of you have seen me before and after I quit.
Peace

Congrats to the both of you! Also, to everyone else here on AK that has done the same and fighting the good fight :thmbsp:

It's not an easy task but it gets better as time passes and you learn how to better apply your tools, trust me. That little bastard booze devil still lands on my shoulder talk'in his shite from time to time even to this day. Bastard used to shout in my ear but now, it's more like a distant whisper. Still an annoying fecker he is :D

It's been well over 10 yrs sober for me now.

Hey Goat, I'm sure your covered but if your ever looking for a brother-in-arms (so to speak) to talk to, you know where to find me  Also, I haven't been to a meeting in years but would happy to tag along. I recall the coffee being pretty bad but the company's good :D
