Any love for old Yamaha gear?

Is there any love for vintage Yamaha gear? The Yamaha M-40 amp, a true CLASS A option with 120 wpc into 8 ohms. A power house. With a damping factor of 130. And then there is the C-40 preamp. A very clear sounding preamp with both MM and MC phono stage. then there is the tuner, tx-480, not the match, but what i like about this model it has a true tuning knob.. What's it worth these days? Is it desirable? Darn thing sounds great.

Are those from the 80's? And yes, I love me some vintage Yamaha gear! Got several vintage Yamaha receivers and a modern A/V too. Always liked the look, build and the SOUND! As far as what they are worth? Don't know. I usually check to see what stuff is going for on ebay to get a rough estimate of the going price.

Ask on the AK Yamaha forum, bet those guys love it.
Selling gear locally can be a challenge, and on eBay there are fees and shipping hassles.

Become a subscriber which gives you the opportunity to sell it on the “Barter Town” forum.

Yes, lots of love out there for these mid 80's high powered amps. I personally think they're great bargains with a proper update of caps. Value wise, I'd say around $3-350 as a set if you auction it off or possibly less if you sell them locally.

Are these and other Yamahas of this era prone to any particular failure, such as corrosive glue?

Uh very desirable......current prices should be evident to that. The entire M series commands good $ and plenty of threads about them on AK.

Lots of love here to be sure. We have an entire forum right above this one for nothing but Yamaha stuff.

I’d check eBay sold prices and take off 15% or so for local sales.
