That's the way the recording studios used to do it, when they sent out tapes to mastering labs!
boxoboom said:Yes I think so to. I have 4 decks and they all played it slow .. but just not to break the chain I am sending it on. I have buried in amongst my stuff ... a calibration tape. I got it when I bought my RT2044 .. it has 10k and a 1k test tones on it. I also have a function generator and a scope ( 20mhz dual trace). I can also make a tape if I can't find my original tape. My original has both quarter track and half track tones on it.
I have yet to locate my old service manual for the old A77 that I had.. Seems to me they had a motor speed control on them .. I know I had two boards as mine had come from a radio station that I worked at. I thought one was for 15 & 7ips and the other for 7 & 3.75ips. Seemed to me that it had a pot on it for fine tuning .. but I can't remember all that clearly and I haven't found the manual. It may have gone the way of the deck. But I don't think so .. I don't throw much away !It would be nice to help Mr Slabi get his deck in good working order. :thmbsp:

My Fluke 87 has a frequency counter. So your 88 does not?Mr Slabi said:The ten thousand dollar question is this. Can it be done without a frequency counter, or oscilloscope?
The idea of matching soundwaves on a tape while playing to a good source sounds like it should work...but will that really work. I'm open to try it.
