Anybody who thinks modern gear isn't made well hasn't...

My amp is only 30 pounds, far less than yours, and I wouldn't want to set it down on any of my body parts.

All digits are accounted for but their was some flowery language. Thankfully it was only a few inches off of its stand but its 125lbs and I'm kind of built like a stick figure.

A good friend of mine swears that I possess 'hi fi strength'- the ability to lift very heavy things, but only if they're related to sound reproduction. He didn't see this pathetic display of man against machine.

Well there's a lot of us here including myself that aren't fortunate enough to own any Levinson gear:D. That's a lot of amp to be hoisting by yourself and glad to hear that your finger is still attached.

Hurts donut..

Haha. Hi fi strength. That's hilarious. I've carried Polk SDA-2B's over my shoulder and cradled my Fortes in my arms while walking across my apartment complex's very large parking lot, up a flight of stairs and down a very narrow hallway, twice, per pair. It's amazing what a man can do when it comes to his stereo.

I also managed to fit the Polks into a 1988 Toyota Camry. There's barely enough room for me in there (6'3", 220 lbs.).

Hey, that's what counts in this hobby! LOL.

FWIW: I threw-out my back for the first time ever about 5 years ago by lifting a very heavy tube amp. So this sort of thing can be hazardous at times.

It's always fun humping up and down 3 flights of stairs with an 80 lb speaker. I keep my gear stashed in the basement so I have to go through this ritual every time I switch speakers out.

Hi-Fi strength. Good one! I really think there's some truth to that. Some how, some way, I managed to get a 36" CRT TV from the street into my house all by myself some years back.

It took my uncle and I to get it out, and it was still a PITA! Have no idea how I managed it by myself. All I can think of is Hi-Fi strength now that you mention it. :dunno:

I used to help my late Father move around his old sand-filled Wharfedale speakers.
I would have filed for Workman's Comp with a back injury if I could have?

Steve

OUCH! :tears: ...glad to see you're still typing without a bunch of missing letters. Must mean your pinkie is still attached. :D

I like the concept of "hi fi strength". I must have it in spades. Otherwise I'd have to admit to non-hi-fi laziness! :D

And of course, ML gear is sort of the "exception that proves the rule" when it comes to quality in modern gear. ML stuff has ALWAYS been good stuff, and will probably remain so for as long the guy himself is involved in it. Eventually (probably after he has passed away...) the name may be bought up by someone like H/K and slapped on pale imitations made in China (or maybe Vietnam or Myanmar/Burma by then...)... but I hope we won't see that day.

I had to help a friend of mine move a pair of those into storage, stacking one on the other. Not fun. But hi-fi strength prevailed!

Harman already did buy them!

Many years ago I had the pleasure to audition some nice hi-fi setup at a friends place and he had 2x Mark Levinson ML9's and it was just like auditioning porn right in front of me. Now ML 432... I might need some nice heart pills before I enjoy those safely. I get excited easily :D
