Anyone know who this kid is or what the movie is?

2 of the adult actors are Van Heflin and Keenan Wynne. I'll try and do a search of what movies they both were in to narrow it down.

HA!!! Found him...

In 1945 Detroit’s Frank “Sugar Chile” Robinson lost a boogie woogie piano contest because he was too young to officially compete; he was six years old. By the age of eight he had performed with Lionel Hampton, played for President Truman at the White House, and appeared in the Hollywood movie “No Leave, No Love” with Van Johnson and Keenan Wynn. By the age of 12 he was one of the most famous entertainers in the country, regularly breaking box office records at theatres across the country and in Europe.

By the age of 15 Sugar Chile had all but disappeared and for the past 50 years music historians and boogie woogie affecionados have been asking, "Whatever happened to Sugar Chile?"

If you're into piano boogie The Red Hot Jazz Archive is a great place to surf around:

http://www.redhotjazz.com/

The sound quality isn't all that great because they're often MP3s of old 78s but you can learn a lot about the genre from the bios. :D

That is a cool site... lots to check out..

I can spend hours on the site and have several times and still go back and find stuff I haven't heard or read before.

It's great going into the bios and finding out who influenced who, who took lessons from who.

One of my favorite stride piano players is Fats Waller, who took lessons from James P. Johnson. Willie "The Lion" Smith influenced Fats as well as Duke Ellington.

Pine Top Smith was one of the first to play boogie and the first to have a recording labeled as boogie.

I've lucked out and picked up a few original 78s by these folks; great music, music that makes you want to move and which influenced rock, blues, r&b, and soul.

Cheers
