Anyone need an HK Award A300 schematic? I just found it!

It was there, on the HK website, the whole time.

Here's the file:

Even though its filename is "A500 schematic", it's DEFINITELY the A300... 7408 outputs are the dead giveaway. Not to mention, the "A300" scrawled on the bottom right. :D

Since the listing for the A300 is for a tuner (NOT the A500 amp), I guess the poor A500 folks are out of luck... :scratch2:

Gordon.

Well, it looks like Harman Kardon recycled that model number. The A-300 tuner was part of H-K's massive lineup for their 1956 model year. The A-300 was a nice copper-plated AM-FM tuner with a magic-eye tuning indicator, while the A-310 (which came out the following year) appears to have been identical except for the substitution of an actual D'arsonval meter.

I have been compiling data about Harman Kardon's 1956 models ever since I got an FM-100 tuner, I may have to post my results here as a mini-article when I get everything sorted out. They had 15 models in that series!

That would be cool. I am sure that all the HK fans would really like to see the listing.

How'd you find that? I asked HK and they said I had to call the parts department if I wanted a schematic. I need one for my HK775 mono blocks.

AFAIK, there's not a schematic for the HK775 online. Probably recent enough, that it's still "in circulation" in their service department...

For everyone's information: I emailed Harman about the mis-placed A300 schematic; they said they would look into getting it put into the right location. So, if it's not in A500, you might want to look in A300... it might be there, sooner or later... :D

Gordon.

I can't remember now which one you were looking for, but there is a Sams Photofacts for the A500 on eBay right now. Original, not photocopy.

There's A500 schematics here and there... I found a couple, via Google. It was the A300 that was unobtanium, until I happened to stumble across it at HK, under the listing for A500.

EDIT: In fact, here's a page with a copy of the original A500 schematic:
