Apt Holman Repair

The tape portion of the preamp is acting quirky, with distortion and drop out. The other inputs and controls work fine and I tried cleaning and lubing the controls etc.

I am thinking about sending it out for repair/upgrades. Does anybody know a good tech I can reach here in NJ or has anyone used Audioproz in Boston? According to their website their tech used to work at Apt Holman.

Thanks

Audioproz doesn't have a stellar customer service reputation, FWIW.
I had a buddy who worked there, I think after a while his eyes were permanently rolled back into his head from the BS he overheard.

I'd open it up and check for cracked solder joints. Make sure you use deoxit on the switches (gets rid of the corrosion versus cleaning the corrosion) - not generic cleaner.

Well, I did have one preamp rebuilt there and it was sent to a friend, still working fine after 5 years.
