AR-18bs - what a good wife I have

I can't say enough good things about my wife. Good with the kids, fun, beautiful, etc. But not only is she tolerant of my hobby, she's started to enable it.
But she score more points when I got home from a long day of travel and hearings to find a lovely pair of AR-18b (need foam) on the kitchen table, still with the $3.99 Salvation Army price tags. :banana:
For background, my family room has the typical stack of two recievers and a tuner/integrated combo, plus a pair of AR3s, HPM-100s, Large Advents with AR-7s stacked on top (primary listening) and a pair of Marants Imp. 5g. She hasn't complained.
Oh - she's also the one that called me to ask - Hey, are infinities good speakers? Which is how I got my $6 pair of RSe that make the HT front channel.
I may have to do something nice for her for valentine's day. Like buy her a new vacuum. :D

I'd give her a current Orion Blue Book (Audio) for her birthday. You don't want her dragging home junk for you. Poor girl will never forgive herself.

Sounds like you have a good wife there...anyone who brings home a pair of AR18b's without asking is golden in my book! They should fit in well with your 7s!
 
Yeah - really close to the same size - though they look very different. Bullnose to the baffle. I'm guessing internal volume is close to the same if not identical, based on the 8" woofer.
From first (brief) listen, they seem to have a brighter top end. What do you know about the tweeter in these guys. I'm starting to be an AR bookshelf warehouse, with the 7s, 18bs, and 4xas. Now to get replacement tweeters in the 4xa - then it's faceoff time.

Oh, I made her a laminated notecard for her wallet/purse that I just didn't give her yet. Can't cover all the bases, but there's always the catch-all clause: "If it's bejeezus heavy, buy it for $20 or less." We've got 7 days at goodwill.
 
WOW! What a smart shopper! I had to pay $7 for my GW 18b's! and I have a blown radio Shack tweeter in one. Gonna' try to find one on epay.
