They're speakers alright - you can see the wires sticking out of the bottom on the carpet. I couldn't hazard a guess on the brand thought the fabric band around them screams Bose.
Bookmarked should these get ID'd. Won't be surprised if they are from one of the console companies like Magnavox or Sylvania. They are cool though and scream 1972.
The listing mentioned mid-century speakers and this is the only picture showing anything resembling speakers. It's not close enough for me to check them out.

Sol7 found the answer. I had a pair in the '70s when I was in high school. Bought new in '72 or '73 if I recall. Not bad speakers at all but light on treble as I remember.
Yep! I still have a pair (out of a previous set of four) in storage here.
I used the first pair of cabinets, with the woofer replaced with a Dayton 8" Classic sub driver (DVC), and the mid/tweeter unit replaced with a port, as a pair of HT subs for a friend's home system. Worked great.
