Edit: They are renowned for their bass but that also means their mid/highs will get lost to heavy bass sound.

That's where the bass and treble knobs come in handy.

The way I understood OP's post, they are FREE.. cost of re-foam is after getting them...

Free stuff - refoam kit is cheap, time for an experiment I'd say.

No offense. But I think it's a little too late for those speakers.
My guess is about half the woofers will come off with the duct tape and then they'll need new cones...
I'd say let the original owner--or whoever did that to the woofers--pay to dispose of them.

The duct taped ones aren't the ones that are being given away. See the link in the first post.

Awe, I think it's moot at this point. I haven't heard from the guy yet, so probably one of the other 500 respondents got them.

If I do get them though, I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes.

Just for posterity, they were free. But I was just considering two sets of foam since there's the drivers and the passives.

That's $45 tops, much cheaper if you shop around and know what you're doing. RTRs are very cool and very undervalued, IMO. Their blue stats are beyond awesome.
