Aristocrat Resurection.... The begining....

Ladies and Gentlemen, my first speaker build,well more of a restoration.Sort of.
The acquisition of some old and abused Barzilay cabinets filled with ElectroVoice
goodies began my vintage audio addiction and led to me joining AK ( along with a nudge from rage)..I still have the goodies,though the SP 15's do need re-coning.
Recently I picked up an Aristocrat cab dirt cheap from a garage sale. It had some University speakers and such inside. Shortly after that I actually bought a second Aristocrat from another AK'er.(thanks Andrew!) Not so cheap, but he threw in a sweet Sp 12 and had some interesting info. Seems the premium load for Aristocrats when they sold as pairs ( not what they were originally intended for ) was Sp12's...T25A's/8HD's...T35's...X36's...X8's..:scratch2:
what a coincidence. one last piece to the puzzle though I only have one Sp12..in the meantime I am hoping to put one together soon.And the other to follow.Kegger will be getting my Fisher 400 soon and together they will make beautiful music.
I was gonna call this Frankencrats....but I see it as more a matter of putting things where they belong !

Reconing SP15

Ev no longer produces parts for vintage speakers.If you are open to DIY ,Soundspeakerrepair.com sells a kit for the EVM 15B with the VC and spider assembled to the the cone and surround. This kit works well in an SP15frame.I have done two of them with good results. JOHN

These are gonna house SP12's.... soon as I find a second one. The Sp15's are going to the Circuit Shop for re-coning....they gave me a great price,and being what they are,I figured it was the best route.

Does that SP12 have a 2" voice coil (as opposed to 2.5")? I think I have one with a 2" voice coil (needs reconing, but I can do that). PM me!
