As the system grows...

As my first HT system grows equipment gets moved. I make my own speaker cable and use banana plugs. Sometimes the wire in the banana plug lossens up and I have to take the connector apart and redo the wire connection. How can I tighten the wire in the conector so that it says secure?

Thanks

What kind of wire connection are you using? Usually these are soldered in place; if soldered properly, they should hold.

You can add some heat-shrink wrap, and even some electrician's tape, to stiffen up the connection. A spring-type or "squeeze" type "strain relief" can help with this problem, too, when moving the wires around a lot. You can also try adding larger shrink-wrap (and tape) OVER the original strain-relief. You might even go so far as to "bury" the connections in some non-conducting substance, perhaps hot glue?

Or change to "pro" type connectors, which are made with better strain reliefs designed to hold up to abuse!

I use the Monoprice 2 peice screw doen Banana connectors and 12 guage wire...Where do you solder the connection?
