At95se help

I bought a AT95SE cartridge and intalled it tonight. The volume is very low, barely audible. I double checked wiring per the schematic on the cartridge box. Reset with portractor, on and on and on. I finally re-installed my 25 year old Shure, Custom Hi-Fi CV9E and the volume is fine.

Any suggestions would keep me from yanking out the remaining hair I have.

What turntable is this for?

Is it plugged into the phono input of a preamp/amp/receiver?

Is the Shure CV9E a magnetic cartridge?

The turntable is Technics SL 1500

I use the turntable with a couple of Fisher receivers. I also made a tube phono amp and use it with my tube amps that I also made.

I found the problem with the volume. There was a piece of plastic flashing on the needle assy that wasn't allowing the needle to seat correctly in the cartridge. Volume is back but I have very little bass. What could cause this??

I set up the new cartridge with a Technics protractor that I downloaded from Vinyl Engine. The cartridge tracks great and points line up great across entire arc.

I sent two emails to the guys I bought this cartridge from concerning the plastic flashing and am yet to get any reply. I'm not happy. I guess you get what you pay for.

This cartridge is typically excellent, but as with any product, bad ones occasionally surface. Since it's technically an AT, if you can't get satisfaction with the dealer, contact Audio Technica.
